CECOE Membership.

Eligibility Criteria.

  Be legally registered and actively operating in Ethiopia.
• ✔
  Agree to abide by CECOE's bylaws, code of conduct, and decisions of the General Assembly.
• ✔
  Be willing and able to pay the prescribed membership fee.
• ✔
  Have a demonstrable track record in election observation, voter education, civic engagement, human rights, peacebuilding, research, or advocacy.
• ✔
  Subscribe to the principles of democracy, human rights, the rule of law, and non-violence.
• ✔
  Demonstrate commitment to promoting free, fair, and credible elections in Ethiopia.

Membership Approval Process

CECOE follows a transparent approval workflow:

1. Review by Secretariat — checks completeness and compliance with eligibility criteria.
2. Verification — Secretariat may contact the CSO or references for clarification.
3. Presentation to the Board — eligible applications are forwarded to the CECOE Board.
4. Decision by the General Assembly — membership is approved by majority vote.
5. Notification — the applicant is informed of the decision.
6. Membership Fee Payment — CSOs: 500 birr; Networks/Consortiums: 1000 birr.
